A facile synthesis of N-(1-oxo-4-carbonyl-2,4,6-trioxa-1-phosphabicyclo[2.2.2]octane)-N′-aryl ureas and some reactions of carbonyl thioureas

A series of novel carbonyl urea derivatives-N-(1-oxo-4-carbonyl-2,6,7-trioxa-1-phosphabicyclo[2.2.2]octane)-N'-aryl ureas 2(a-j) were synthesized by three different methods. The experimental results showed that the desulfurization reaction of 1, using AgNO3-H2O, proceeded via the carbodiimide intermediates. The intermediates have been detected by UV spectra and captured by chemical method. 1 reacted with AgNO3-CH3OH and chloroacetyl chloride to afford 4 and cyclic products 6(a-b), respectively. All the compounds have been characterized on the basis of elemental and spectral studies and their biological activities are being tested.
