摘要
This study examined thirty-four third grade children's comprehension of multiplication and their conceptions of perimeter and area measurement through one-to-one interviews. The results showed that the children could solve multiplication computations and find perimeters well but their comprehension of multiplication and the formula for the area measurement of a rectangle was not complete. Moreover, the quality of the children's comprehension of multiplication affects their understanding of area measurement concepts rather than conceptions of perimeter. Implications for improving children's conceptual understanding of multiplication and measurement are discussed.
