摘要
A new working hypothesis of the nature of the ''steam-explosion'' phenomenon is presented. This is based on two postulates: explosion is an exothermic process and the interaction of a water jet with a melt surface leads to the initiation of a wave-like disturbance in the melt volume resulting in release of energy. Also, a method for future development of explosion-proof technologies is implied. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
