Control of Five-Phase Open-End Induction Machine Drive Topology with Floating Capacitors at Optimized DC Voltage

摘要
A control scheme is presented for 5-phase open-end winding induction machine (OEWIM) fed by a dual inverter system, where the main and floating inverters are supplied by a DC power source and a capacitor, respectively. Under the proposed method, the main inverter can work with unity Power Factor (PF) with the floating inverter providing all the reactive power. Besides, the current waveform is improved by harmonic suppression in the third harmonic plane. Moreover, the voltage of floating capacitor (FC) is adjusted to keep the modulation ratio of floating inverter near 1 during the operation, which helps to reduce the switching losses of the system. Experimental results are presented to verify that this scheme is practical in controlling this open-end drive topology.
