Use of Multi-criteria decision analysis to make collection management decisions

摘要
Decision-making processes are paramount in collection management at any academic digital library. In order to make good decisions for increasing the satisfaction of its target users, librarians faces many challenges, determining users' needs, collection areas that need more development and the selection of materials for different collection management activities are the most challenging processes. In this paper, we propose an approach based on multi-criteria decision aiding method PROMETHEE II for ranking materials and collection areas, at first, librarians enters criteria weights and values, then, we recall PROMETHEE II method for ranking materials from the most to the least important for weeding, digitization or renewals, and for ranking the collection areas from more developed to less developed.
