摘要：
This paper reviews the basic assumptions of real-time voltage instability monitoring, based on impedance matching and compares it with a new method based on either phasor measurement units (PMU), or distance relays. It is shown that the limitations associated with impedance matching assumptions are overcome by the proposed method, which can accurately monitor voltage instability in all considered cases.
