Surface energy at the crystal nucleus glass interface in alkali silicate glasses

摘要
The surface energy sigma at the crystal nucleus-glass interface is determined as a function of temperature for a number of alkali silicate glasses. The values of sigma are estimated by the graphical solution of the transcendental equation obtained from the relationships for the stationary rate of crystal nucleation and the time of nonstationary crystal nucleation. The found a values are compared with the data obtained by different authors for glasses of the lithium disilicate stoichiometry. The behavior of temperature dependence of the surface energy is interpreted.
