The use of N-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate glue for the fixation of polypropylene mesh in laparoscopic hernia repair

The Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU) at The Royal Surrey County Hospital Guildford (UK) reports on the use of n-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate glue for fixing polypropylene mesh during laparoscopic hernia repair. 17 such repairs have now been performed. The prototype glue dispenser and mode of application used to fix the mesh are described. This is the first reported use of glue in laparoscopic hernia repair.
