Esters of beta -bromo or beta -chloro perfluorodithiocrotonic acid were prepared from corresponding ketenedithioacetal with anhydrous magnesium halides. These new polyfluorinated dithiocarboxylates are good dienophiles reacting selectively via the C=S bond. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
