摘要
Li-ion cells are extensively used in electric vehicles and static power bank applications. Charging time of the battery pack consisting of Li-ion cells is one of the critical performance parameters for these applications. It becomes of more importance at high temperatures, as life of the cells is impacted if charged with high c-rates at high temperatures (> 40 degrees C). In this paper, a smart charging strategy is proposed for high temperature operation, where Grate is changed as a function of instantaneous battery temperature to completely charge the battery in minimum time without violating cell supplier's recommendations on operating temperature range. The proposed charging strategy is successfully validated and implemented in an electric vehicle.
