The study explores both independent and joint effects of emotional intelligence (EI), Machiavellianism, and emotional labor (EL) on Chinese civil servants' performance, including task executive and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). Analyzing 361 civil servants and results show. that emotional, intelligence counts for variance of both task performance and OCB; emotional labor enhances El-task performance relationship but has no impact on EI-OCB relationship or Machiavellianism-performance relationship. Machiavellianism. has no direct effect on either task performances or OCB. It decreases El-task performance relationship, while has no effect on EI-OCB; relationship. Corresponding implications of the results are discussed.
