Facilitating Adoption of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems: the State of the Art

Enterprise Resource Planning ( ERP) systems are essential to business organizations today. Despite the cost of the implementation process and the post-implementation support, many firms use ERP to integrate the operational data of the organization. In that regard, getting the return of this investment is an important issue to those firms. Users' acceptance of ERP systems determines both the success of the implementation process and the performance and benefits of the system. Therefore, user acceptance is recognized to be one of the main reasons for high failure rates in ERP implementation projects. Research on ERP acceptance is growing on recent years. This study presents a systematic review on ERP adoption literature. We have examined the factors facilitating the use of ERP systems to reach an understanding on the future trend in researches on ERP adoption based on the classification and analysis of 81 articles published in years between 2001-2011. We believe that this review will be beneficial to understand the current state of the art in ERP adoption research with future research directions and trends.
