摘要
Many visually impaired persons are severely restricted in their individual mobility. The technical progress in the environment perception of intelligent systems could substantially contribute to the safety and mobility of these persons. In this work we present a wearable technical aid for visually impaired persons which perceives the environment with a binocular camera and informs the user with intuitive acoustic feedback. We describe the techniques for scene understanding and egomotion estimation and describe the sonification of the interpreted environment. In an experimental study we show how the intelligent environment perception can increase safety and mobility of visually impaired people.
