摘要
The article addresses the issue of a frequent failure of learning English as a second language in Russia and the possible reasons for this. In spite of numerous opportunities available now for people to study this language, there is still no considerable growth in the number of those who can speak English fluently. Having assessed the actual level of English of those who apply for jobs in this country, we obtained detailed data showing such a level is, in fact, lower than it had been claimed on these people resumes. Taking into consideration the number of years they had studied English, we also analyzed possible reasons for such kind of situation.
