Low DC Electric-Field-Induced Phase Transition in KTa0.59Nb0.41O3 Crystal

摘要
Cubic to tetragonal phase transition (PC-T) in relaxor ferroelectric KTa1-xNbxO3 (x is the composition of Nb) occurs at room temperature and thus receives much attention due to its practical device applications. However, the mechanisms of electric-field-induced PC-T remain unclear due to the limited study and technical challenges. We study the PC-T, process induced by low direct current (DC) electric field using KTa0.59Nb0.41O3 single crystal by detection of real-time Raman, relative permittivity, and ferroelectric domain. Several notable features indicating the PC-T process are observed in the Raman spectrum with application of the electric field. In addition, it is found that the electric-field-induced PC-T, exists in a small temperature range, which is consistent with Landau-Devonshire (LD) phenomenological theory.
