摘要:
Originating from Chinese traditional culture, paternalistic leadership (PL) has been found to be widespread in various Chinese organizations. From a leader-member exchange (LMX) perspective, this study examines the effectiveness of PL by exploring the effects of each dimension of PL and the interactions among them on LMX relationships. Results from 198 participants indicate that benevolent and moral leadership positively influence LMX relationships respectively. The findings also suggest that authoritarian and benevolent leadership have a significant, positive interaction effect on the relationships of the dyads. Finally, the limitations and implications for practice are discussed.
