Crystal structure of a complex of 2,6-dichloro-4-nitrophenol (DCNP) with 1,4-dioxane is reported. Single crystals suitable for X-ray diffraction study was obtained by slow evaporation of a solution of DCNP in 1,4-dioxane. X-ray structure determination showed that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n with cell parameters a = 11.9935(7) , b = 5.1491(3) , c = 16.8775(10) , beta = 105.9360(10)A degrees, V = 1002.23(10) (3) and Z = 4. In the structure, the molecules lie about an inversion centre and asymmetric unit contains half of the structure. Two molecules of DCNP moiety are connected by an 1,4-dioxane molecule via strong hydrogen bonding.
