Functionally graded Zn-Al-Si in-situ composites fabricated by centrifugal casting

摘要
A new in situ functionally graded composite based on the Zn-Al-Si alloy was fabricated by centrifugal casting. A high volume fraction of primary Si particles in the inner layer was achieved. The hardness and wear resistance of the composite were found to depend mainly on the distribution of the primary silicon particles along radial direction. The inner layer of the composite showed the highest hardness and wear resistance.
