The dialectical relationship of time-cost-quality in whole life cycle construction project management

摘要
The time, cost and quality control are the focus of project management in construction projects. The current body of knowledge, project administrative systems, and the associated model contracts support the construction projects management with limited focus on separate stages from its original business objectives, or market dynamics. There is an increasing realization that the main focus should be shifted from the separate stage to the whole life cycle. It becomes clear that the traditional project management approaches will have to give way to a new system in which whole life cycle project objectives will be the basis for decision-making throughout the project's life. A whole life-cycle project management model was build to help both project managers and other project professionals to understand this new idea, and all project participants assume partial responsibility for the viability of the project over its whole life cycle. Construction projects are technology based, and few projects can be competitive without the integration of time, cost and quality goals in their conceptualization, implementation, and operation. Lastly, to optimize the time, cost and quality goals in the whole life cycle construction project, the dialectical relationship of time-cost-quality was analyzed in detail.
