摘要：
Extract from leaves of Nelumbo nucifera was obtained and studies were conducted to observe its hypoglycemic activity. The drug extracts were found to be safe at 4gm/kg body weight. The work was conducted in normal and alloxan induced diabetic rats using alcoholic extract of Nelumbo nucifera leaf. The alcoholic extract of Nelumbo nucifera leaf was found to produce hypoglycemic effect-in both single and chronic dose administration, in normal as well as diabetic rats. It was inferred that the leaf extract of Nelumbo nucifera possess hypoglycemic activity similar to that observed with the hypoglycemic drug Glibenclamide.
