The quality costs: a quality management tool in chemical industry

The quality costs are an effective tool to evaluate the success of a quality management program. This paper presents the quality cost concept in the chemical industry, as an alternative quality management, highlighting the benefits of its application. A literature review and discussion of current publications on generic models of quality costs was performed. It was observed little evidence of its application to the chemical industry. It was observed that the most frequently used generic model, continues being traditional approach PAF (prevention, appraisal and failures). So, this approach is established as an alternative to provide management tools to organizations and to face to the market competitiveness of the chemical industry.
