A FIBER-OPTIC ALCOHOL SENSOR BASED ON SURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE

摘要
A fiber-optic alcohol sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology is demonstrated. The sensing device is a multimode optical fiber in which half the core was polished away and a thin-film layer of gold was deposited. We theoretically and experimentally analyzed the SPR performance in alcohol sensing. The measured SPR spectrum shows good agreement with the simulated curve. The maximum SPR efficiency is about 24% at resonant wavelength 0.63 μm. In addition, a dynamic experiment was used to verify the good performance for our fiber-optic alcohol sensor in real-time detection. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
