摘要
In this article the design of a novel fiber-optic sensor is presented which employs a long-period fiber grating to achieve surface plasmon resonance of a single cladding mode. Simulations and experiments prove that high sensitivity can be achieved with a very compact sensing area. Hence, the sensor appears well suited for portable devices or highly integrated sensing systems in medical or biotechnological applications.
