Water as a regulator of catalytic activity of tetrabutoxy titanium in amide formation

摘要
The interaction of tetrabutoxy titanium with water from a gas phase significantly changes its catalytic activity in the reaction of aniline with benzoic acid. Tetrabutoxy titanium reaction with water is studied by the H-1 NMR method, The concentration and possible structure of a complex having the maximum catalytic activity were determined. The probable mechanism of catalytic amide formation in the presence of tetrabutoxy titanium activated by water is discussed.
