摘要：
This article outlines the differential diagnosis of androgen excess in adolescent patients, a common cause of menstrual disorders in this age group. This article concentrates on polycystic ovary syndrome with a discussion of proposed mechanisms behind its pathogenesis and therapeutic approaches. The potential long-term medical sequelae, genetic transmission of this syndrome, and potential use of new insulin-sensitizing agents are discussed.
