On an inverse problem for the wave equation in regions with mobile boundaries and an iteration method for the determination of control functions

An attempt was made to find the quantitative values of control functions for the wave processes induced by a cylindrical plasma piston with a finite length. The data obtained with the help of streak camera indicate that the expanding plasma piston is transformed into a dumbshell shaped cavity. The analysis of the results obtained indicates that the wave processes might be correctly controlled only when a certain level of knowledge has been attained about the process.
