摘要
The Duralcan's DC cast Al/SiC composite F3S.20S which is particularly suited for casting was investigated. The extrudability, as well as the microstructural features and the mechanical properties of the cast, extruded and heat treated composite are presented and discussed. The results show an essential improvement of the mechanical properties of the DC as cast composite after hot extrusion and heat treatment. The established mechanical properties of the composite show a targe potential for use. Wear resistance of extrusion dies, as well as poor machinability of this material limit the extended application of this or similar types of materials.
