摘要
This paper deals with the comparison of Mechanical properties of aluminum alloy (LM 25) with boron carbide and aluminum alloy with silicon carbide metal matrix composite. The boron carbide of particle size 35 to 40 mm and silicon carbide of similar particle size were used as reinforcements. This addition gives excellent hardness and good impact strength. The fabrication was done by using stir casting., The samples are prepared and mechanical testing like tensile, hardness, and impact was done. It was found that aluminum alloy with boron carbide showed better tensile and impact strength whereas aluminum alloy with silicon carbide showed better hardness. The structure was characterized by using optical microscope. Copyright (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
