摘要
The asymmetric reduction of phenylglyoxylate methyl ester with molecular hydrogen and catalytic amounts of cationic chiral diamine and dithiourea complexes of rhodium and iridium is reported. The catalytic activity of the complexes is rather different if the C-2-symmetric ligand is a diamine or a dithiourea, even if enantioselectivity is always observed, with ee values up to 72%.
