摘要
This paper discusses the role of the European Union through its Non-Nuclear Energy R&D Programmes, sector on 'Rational Use of Energy in Industry', in supporting energy efficiency in the paper industry. Projects, past and present, are described, several of which involve Finnish organisations. More generic technologies, for example heat exchangers, fouling, sensors and systems engineering, which could be applied to the paper sector are also briefly discussed.
