摘要
Although the failure of X-52 linepipe steel due to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) remains a concern in the oil and gas industry, the mechanisms responsible for crack initiation and propagation are not well understood. In this work, SCC from a section of in-service X-52 linepipe steel was investigated. Features of intergranular cracks were characterized using optical microcopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), focused ion beam (FIB) microscopy. and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of carbide and phosphorus on crack propagation was emphasized.
