Campus Monitoring Network Based on Convergence of 3G Mobile Communication and Zigbee

摘要
In order to conveniently monitor library or lab, this paper proposed a mobile campus monitoring network. In the proposed network, wireless sensor technology was employed to capture image information about field such as library or lab, and mobile communication network was converged with internet to carry out remotely and mobile monitor. In wireless sensor network (WSN), all nodes are organized with star topology, and sensor nodes are managed by a central control node connected with digital campus network. The WSN works in a mode named "wake up on-demand" which means the WSN is set in a sleep mode where most circuits are turn off and fewer circuits keep monitoring the wireless channels at low power consumption. Once smoking sensor detects smoke, these nodes are waked up and the JPEG camera module in WSN immediately take photo for library or lab, and then these images are transmitted to digital campus network or staff mobile phone. The proposed campus monitoring network can effectively monitor library and lab, and avoid resulting in larger lost during firing.
