The effect of "The Six Thinking Hats Technique" on the students' academic achievement in social studies at primary school

摘要
The aim of this study is to determine the academic achievement of "the Six Thinking Hats Technique" in Social Studies among the sixth grade primary education students. The population of the research has been the sixth grade students of the Bahcelievler Primary School in the province of Elazig. The samples are in total 50 which have been chosen from the population. The research has been applied via the experimental design by planning "pre-test, post-test in a control group". In the experimental group, lessons were followed by daily plans which were prepared according to "the Six Thinking fiats Technique", and in the control group traditional methods such as lecture and catechetical method were used. The data has been collected via achievement test and interview questions. At the end of the research, it has been determined that "the Six Thinking Hats Technique" has improved the achievement much more and the students were willingful to wear especially the white hat. In order to improve the achievement of students, methods and techniques should be used in which they are more active.
