[GRAPHICS] (i) p-anisoyl chloride, diisopropylethylamine, dichloromethane, 25 degrees C, 16 h. (ii) DBU, 4-bromobenzyl bromide, toluene, 25 degrees C, 48 h. (iii) SmI2/ THF, 25 degrees C, 3 h. A strategy for malting amides and ureas using a polymer-supported hydroxylamine resin as a traceless linker is described. The cleavage of the linker by samarium(II) iodide is reported for the first time.
