A Study on the Style of Recycled Polyester/Wool Blended Fabric

Recycled polyester has been one of the environmental fibers which have been used in many areas, such as material in textiles. In this paper, we studied the style of the recycled polyester/wool blended fabric and the ordinary polyester/wool blended fabric with the Kawabata evaluation system for fabrics (KES-FB-AUTO-A). In order to get a better contrast, the samples we selected have the same warp and weft yarn counts, weave types, blending ratios, warp and weft densities. The low-stress mechanical properties, including surface roughness and friction, compression, bending, shearing, and tensile properties of the two kinds of samples, were tested by KES-FB-AUTO-A. The results indicated that recycled polyester/wool blended fabric has slightly more surface roughness, but in general, can reach the same style as ordinary polyester/wool fabric. The recycled polyester/wool blended fabric has more softness and bulk compared to ordinary polyester/wool fabric, and even has properties of enhanced resistance to stretching, tensile resilience, and elasticity in weft.
