ASPECTS OF COGNITIVE APPROACH IN TEACHING PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS MAJORING IN ECONOMICS

摘要
The article speaks about the experimental teaching in ESP (English for Specific Purposes) format which is aimed at boosting the students' creative thinking. The theoretical study of the works by cognitive psychologists on the human mental sphere proved the limitations of abilities to gain a large amount of new information. The theoretical foundation is based on the implementation of teaching to reading based on the integration of psychological human properties such as short-term, working and long-term memories. The goal of the research is to theoretically verify the implementation of the approach for teaching students to reading activities in ESP programs. The study considers the communicatively-cognitive methodology of instructing teaching of professional thesaurus. It is assumed that the process can be reinforced thanks to teaching students to implement cognitive and metacognitive strategies via modeling the classroom activities by means of cognitive -directed tasks. This methodology adds to developing students' speaking skills at the same time. It is believed that the methodology effectiveness is achieved due to the features of a human psych mental nature to be applied to the processes of encoding and storing information in the long-term memory and its further extraction, which is considered to be a mechanism of gaining knowledge in the language education environment.
