摘要
It is important to adopt a Design For Reliability method using the Design For Six Sigma approach to mitigate the early failures in the field and to protect against warranty failures. The early failures or the infant mortality of the product failures in the field which is directly causing the warranty issues and impacting on the company's financial situation. The design team in the OEM company needs to define the project for Design For Reliability for success in the long run of the business and to keep the company's reputation in the marketplace. The company may have several products in its product line. The company realized the increasing warranty cost, high field failure rates, Catastrophic failures, and a large number of customer complaints. The industry may also realize that noise would create a bad remark on the company's reputation and liability issues. Hence, it is important to decide to improve the Reliability of the product. To keep the company's reputation high, the industry may have to replace all failed products with highly reputed other products in their portfolio for free/reasonable cost. The company also needs to control the damage and keep its customers happy.
