摘要
When it is the author himself responsible for its translation, the short novel will present a bilingualism and biculturalism that biculturalism that make its translatological study relevant. Within the field of self-translation, the Irishman Samuel Beckett has worshipped this genre, translating himself from French into English and vice versa. We will therefore analyse self-translation in the Beckettian short novel through Premier amour (2022 [1970]) and First love (2009 [1973]). To do so, we will start with a literature review of self-translation as a combination of bilingualism and rewriting to characterise Beckett's short novel: a naturalising, exogenous and hoto update the available bibliography through a comparative analysis of self-translation techniques in Beckett's Premier amour and First love. shifts in tone, paying attention to their presence in other Beckettian short novels.
