摘要
Multi-layer composites with embedded structural elements such as islands or channel cracks exhibit outstanding strain relief capabilities. The composite's structural design localizes strains and loads in insensitive parts of the structure while other areas are protected and almost strain-free even under large applied strains. This facilitates, e.g., highly stretchable electronics. Here, we present a Python script that generates representative volume elements of structured multi-layer composites and provides the framework to study its stretchability and deformation mechanisms using finite element modeling. The script is fully parameterized to facilitate flexible microstructure design and includes fracture and delamination modeling using Cohesive Zone Models.
