A detailed mapping work has revealed that the studied Santunying area, which is about 500 km~2, is dominantly composed of three granulite facies plutonic gneisses, Santunying gneiss, Xiaoguanzhuang gneiss, both Q-dioritic in composition, and Qiuhuayu gneiss with tonalitic-trondhjimatic geochemistry.
