摘要
The effect of Cr substitution on Mn in Mn5Ge3 on structure, magnetic and magnetocaloric effect has been investigated. The samples exhibit second-order ferromagnetic transition with decreased transition temperature ranged from 298.5 to 242.5 K. The extensive and well-tuned temperature range can be interpreted with structural analysis that shows Mn-Mn distance, especially the distance between MnII atoms, representing exchange coupling is mediated by substitution of Cr. The moderate magnetic entropy change in wide temperature range consequently can be obtained and is available for solid magnetic refrigerants that needs large working temperature range.
