Carbide precipitation in a Ni-based superalloy fabricated by DED and cast after long-term thermal exposure

摘要
The present work investigates the effect of carbide precipitation on microstructure stability in a Ni-based superalloy fabricated by directed energy deposition (DED) and cast. Long-term thermal exposure was employed for evaluating the microstructure stability. The results show that needle-like M6C carbides with the size of more than 15 mu m and rod-like MC carbides with the size of about 2 mu m are precipitated in cast, and DED Ni-based superalloy, respectively. These carbides are rich W, Mo, and Re. The microstructure stability of DED Ni-based superalloys is better due to less severe dendrite segregation. Ni-based superalloys fabricated by DED can accommodate more refractory elements. These results would offer a valuable reference for designing composition of DED Ni-based superalloys.
