摘要
The objective of this research is to analyze, from the theoretical-methodological perspective of ecological economics, the impacts on human health of water pollution in the upper basin of the Santiago River, located in western Mexico. The study was carried out using official sources such as the National Water Commission and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, and studies by specialists. The inductive method and systems theory were used. The fundamental finding of the research consists of the determination of the synergies between the elements of the disruptive system of the basin. The main limitation of the study is the absence of an information system on the epidemiological characteristics in the study area. We consider that the work provides a novel and useful approach for the analysis and incidence of the socio-environmental crisis in the country's river basins.
