摘要
The feasibility of implementing all-optical polarization encoded Ternary Maximum and Ternary Minimum logic gates using Semiconductor Optical Amplifier-based polarization rotation switch is theoretically investigated and demonstrated. The proposed circuit exploits the Cross Polarization Modulation effect of the Semiconductor Optical Amplifier. The Extinction Ratio, Contrast Ratio, Amplitude Modulation, Quality factor (Q), Relative Eye Opening, etc. have been calculated and plotted against different parameters. The simulation work has been done using low-intensity (<0.5mW) ultrashort (FWHM<2 ps) Gaussian pulses with a very high bit rate of 500 Gbits/sec. The obtained results indicate that the proposed scheme enables to obtain a high value of the Q factor.
