摘要：
It is stated that most failures of chemical apparatus made of steel are caused by local corrosion which can be traced to structural inhomogeneities in the steel. Experimental data are presented to illustrate the favorable effect of electroslag remelting on the homogeneity of stainless steel and therewith on its corrosion resistance.
