Microstructural gradients in Ti-3Al-8V-6Cr-4Zr-4Mo for excellent HCF strength and toughness

Deep-rolling with subsequent annealing was performed on solution heat treated Ti-3Al-SV-6Cr-4Zr-4Mo to develop microstructural gradients in the notch root. Annealing treatments were varied to a wide extent to evaluate optimum conditions for excellent fatigue performance and outstanding fracture toughness of a component. Such a property combination cannot be achieved by non-gradient microstructures.
