The paper reports on the favourable experience acquired in the construction of some 400 road bridges using lightweight concrete. Details centre on an overview of the most common bridge types and a report describing the experience gained from execution and the behaviour of twelve bridges which, from the point of view of their design, location and the environmental and service conditions to which they are subjected, can be regarded as being representative.
