摘要
The influence of microstructure on fatigue crack propagation rate was investigated for three different AlZnMgCu-alloys with similar tensile properties. Tests were performed under vacuum and in laboratory air to estimate the influence of environment. A pronounced influence of microstructure on crack propagation rate was found for fatigue under vacuum as well as in air. Crack propagation along slip bands in a high-purity underaged alloy exhibited the slowest, crack propagation by void coalescence in commercial alloys the highest crack propagation rate.
