摘要
Most older boilers were initially oversized without provision for sufficient turndown to allow optimum load-following flexibility. One excellent method for improving operation in plants with old equipment is to add a baseload boiler. This boiler is selected and sized to give maximum load-matching flexibility. Its purpose is to carry the load in ranges below the low-fire range of the existing equipment, enabling the larger boiler to be shut down rather than to cycle and eliminating most cyclic losses. In a multiboiler plant, the baseload unit can also be operated when the load exceeds the capacity of one boiler but is lower than the low-fire range of the second. The baseload boiler follows the load precisely and eliminates the on-off operation of the second boiler.
