SHAPE AND CURRENT OF NEUTRALIZED MONOENERGETIC RELATIVISTIC ELECTRON BEAMS.

A self-consistent model is presented for a cylindrical, neutralized, monoenergetic relativistic electron beam. Within symmetry transformations, the model has a single two-dimensional electron trajectory. Analysis of the model shows, in particular, that the electron trajectory is determined by the single parameter nu / gamma , within similarity transformations. It is shown that this new model, the neutralized model of Hammer and Rostoker, and the Lawson model have essentially the same variation of the current i with the parameter nu / gamma ). The theoretical basis for the model consists of the Vlasov kinetic equation and the equations of magnetostatics.
